Haircut

The same man has been cutting my hair since I was between 2nd and 3rd grades. I really like the cuts I get most of the time, he does a beautiful job with up-dos when I’ve needed those (proms, debutante ball, and wedding).

But usually when he styles my hair just for the everyday, I want to come home and redo it.

Today is no exception. Now that I have a little more time for vanity since Alice isn’t nursing anymore, I’m going to let it grow back out some. In the meantime, however, I have to have haircuts regularly to keep the ends neat so I don’t look shaggy and gross. And so it looks *styled* instead of “oh, look, Elaine’s growing her hair out, doesn’t it look crappy?”

Today I feel like I need to put on a warm-up suit, some Adidas sneakers, put a whistle around my neck, and start yelling at a volleyball team.

Not. Feminine. At. All.

Looking forward to styling it myself tomorrow morning.

  1. OH, I thought that I was the only one in the world who did that! I have NEVER been to a stylist who could actually style my hair. Cut, yes. Color, yes. But style? Not a clue.

It’s pretty much ritual that I go home and wash my hair immediately following a haircut.

  2. I’m the opposite. I LOVE how my hairdresser styles my hair, but I can never come close to making look 1/2 as good. My REAL hairdresser, the lady at Supercuts…not a clue. I, too, am growing my hair out. I think part of it is I want a change, and part of it is I long for the days when I could just throw my hair in a ponytail and go. (Thanks again, E for EVERYTHING!)

  3. Yea… I don’t go back if I have to redo (or want to redo) when I leave.

Jenni, my current hairdresser, does a great job at flat ironing. She can do it so it looks like it is straight, but not FLAT. It still has body.

She only works three days a week and they are in a row. So I couldn’t even go in and have her do that every other day or something.

Oh…..and she ROCKS at shampooing. She takes FOREVER cause she’s massaging your scalp, head…NECK….

I just wish I could afford to go more often…..

  4. I have this problem every time I go to the hair dresser – I think that’s why I hate it so much.

I did have a great hair dresser for a while who just knew how to do my hair – but then she went and left me 🙁

So now I just go to a place called “Just Cuts” – that’s all they do 😉 And I style it myself when I get home
