Quiet

I have a quiet house for the next three hours, as the girls are playing with their grandparents. They’re going to feed the ducks, and then over to play with Tally, the fox terrier who gets excited at the mere mention of Helen’s name. I love that.

I’m going to clean the main floor since I have people coming over tonight. And I’m going to go to the grocery store, because we have, as Jerry put it, whittled the contents of the pantry down to “Baker’s chocolate and tomato paste.” I did tell him that I could make a really good barbeque chicken pot pie with that combination of food items, and he just glowered at me. Apparently it breaks the meat and chocolate rule. No mole sauce for him! Other than that, there’s just not a whole lot of worthwhile food in there. Some cereal. Raisins. Bisquick. And we are totally out of prunes, almost out of Advil (again), and close to being out of all fruit-type items.

So. I guess I’ll do some menu planning, too, which I haven’t done in a while. But I’m able to stand up for indefinite amounts of time now so I can cook again. So life is good. 🙂

Time permitting, I’ll do something for me. But since I get to scrapbook tonight, I feel like I’ll be getting the payoff anyway. Whee!

  1. LOL… Elaine went shopping!!! I need to do that, too… I just hate buying groceries without a plan! Wanna share your meal plans!?!?! I used to clip out the monthly meal calendars from Woman’s Day… At least they had IDEAS…

  2. Hmmm… Tonight we’re having tomato/pesto/mozzarella pizzas on premade Boboli crust, since I’m having my workshop and won’t be able to *cook*… But I can certainly throw that together.

And I got stuff for shnitzel and a German cucumber salad…

And chicken teriyaki with rice and an Asian cucumber slaw…

    And “superfast” cheese enchiladas…

All recipes came from the August issue of Cooking Light which happened to be the one that I picked up when I sat down to make my shopping list.

No crunchy salads other than cucumber, because I’m just not feeling brave enough for all that roughage yet. But I figured I could probably handle cucumbers, since they’re kinda slippery.

  3. wow…. that all sounds yummy. we’re having hamburgers tonight. cause we’re creative like that… I want to eat at your house!

BTW–how do you make schnitzel light??

  4. Cook?

    Hmm. I wonder what that’s all about…..

Contents of OUR pantry are on the kitchen table. And out on the patio. Where the children threw them. Because of Ants.

Our kitchen has been closed Because of Ants for far too long.

Cause I have the munchies and we have nothing. Well, I think there’s a can of mushroom soup and diced pears….. Neither of which are “munchie”.

  5. Nope — Nancy wins on this one. Her ant situation is WAY worse than our ant situation. Oy.

Then again, we have Orkin. God Bless Orkin.
