E-I-E-I-O

Alice really loves to sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” Well, she actually likes for US to sing it, because then she can boogie down and sing along to the parts she knows.

Mommy, Daddy, or Helen: Old MacDonald Had a Farm–
Alice: E-I-E-I-O!
MDoH: And on this farm he had a sheep–
Alice: E-I-E-I-O! Baa baa baa baa baa baa E-I-E-I-O!

This afternoon, Alice was trying to tell me what she wanted. She came to me, said, “A-boo-dyeeeee,” which is AliceSpeak for “I want…” and then went to the fridge and tried to open it. Then she turned to me and made the “more” sign in sign language. So I gave her some cheese. She went away happy.

Then she came back. And again. So I decided to feed her an early dinner (Jerry and Helen are at a movie — I’m sure he’ll report on it tomorrow). We’ve been trying to get her to say more words, because she’s perfectly content with the ten that she knows and we’re getting bored with them. So I made chicken for her, and as I was plating it for her, I kept saying, “chickenchickenchickenchickenchickenchicken…” Her reply: “tickatickatickatickaticka… E-I-E-I-O!”
