The Sun and the Birds

No more excuses. Today is The Day.

Today I absolutely MUST start making the light-cancelling shades for Alice’s room. She woke up the moment the first glint of morning light started to hit her room, so I’ve been up now for almost an hour and a half.

I am NOT a morning person, by any stretch of the imagination. These hours are killing me.

I have all of the materials to make these shades. ALL of them. I have no reason NOT to be doing this. I made the resolution this morning at 5:36am that I wouldn’t get creative and make the shades all fancy, either. I will do the minimum piecing required to get the fabric wide enough, and call it done.

You know it’s gonna be a banner day when the first words out of your mouth in the morning are a string of expletives.

I swear, it’s God’s revenge on me to have a morning person for a child. I was the only night owl in a family of morning people, and my parents said a prayer every night that I’d get payback with my own children. They are enjoying this, I’m sure. Jerks.
